Medical and Fitness Requirement
Because of the nature of the role of group leader, applicants must be physically fit and able to complete certain essential functions. Any job offer made will be conditional based on satisfactory completion of a medical questionnaire.
This guide is intended to be fair and open. As these tasks are intrinsic functions of the role of Group Leader it is compliant with the Equality Act (2010) section 60.
If you have a disability or medical condition which means you cannot complete the following safely it is unlikely that you will be able to fulfil the role of Group Leader (GL).
Having been appointed, if it is then found that you are unable to fulfil the physical demands of the role as detailed, probation could be terminated on capability grounds.

|1. Physically able to be active for 12 hour days with a group of children and work outside in all conditions.||Group Leaders are required to be with the groups of children for the duration of their visit and to lead all sessions. This requires working a shift pattern of roughly : 9am-9pm;9am-9pm;8:30am-4pm.||-|
|2. Able to swim in outdoor body of water.||Canoe and Raft Build sessions may require rescues to be performed. Compulsory training requires water confidence and the ability to rescue a capsized canoe.||Buoyancy aids and helmets to be worn for all watersports.|
|3. Climbing/working at height.||Necessary to be able to climb a climbing wall or similar structure to rescue a child.||With harness and full safety equipment.|
|4. Good standard of hearing||Necessary to hear children from 360 degrees around and in situations with external noise.||If hearing aid user will need to establish effectiveness.|
|5. Vision||Ability to see clearly.||Glasses and contact lenses accepted.|
|6. Consciousness||Should not suffer from any condition which puts them at risk of losing consciousness due to safety critical nature of the role and being the sole instructor on sessions.||If controlled by medication, further medical information will be sought.|
|7. Work outside in all weathers.||A significant part of every GL shift will require a GL to be outside instructing, whatever the weather conditions are.||-|
|8. To below the maximum weight limit for safety equipment||In order to safely use the Autobelay units staff need to be below 120kg||-|
